The 3rd Gunma Regional Conference on Lifelong Integrated Education was
held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 with the theme "Lifelong Integrated
Education: Today's Demand What is Real Human Education? at the
Maebashi Municipal Cultural Hall. It was the first conference following
the acquisition of the status as the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation
by Nomura Center for Lifelong Integrated Education.
The Gunma Conference came about because Mrs. Michiyo Sano, the chief of
the Gunma branch, heard Mrs. Yumiko Kaneko state that the Center will serve
the public interest through character building of the people on March 4th,
2013, on the day of the Anniversary of our Foundation. Moved by those words
she took the initiative to request support of the Board of Directors of
the Center for the Gunma Conference for which she would mobilize members
to be actively involved. The objective was to focus on mutual education
based on self-education and to develop independent leadership graduating
from their deep-rooted dependency and to stand on their own.
While visiting many towns and villages in the prefecture to solicit participation they experienced failures, tears and laughter. By so doing, they increased awareness about the problems the contemporary society faces.
On the day of conference, favored by the good weather, the hall was filled with 612 attendants from Gunma Prefecture as well as from many parts rest of the country.
The attendants shared the day engaging in quest of the education which is demanded by today against the background of the turbulent changing society and the world.
